Saraswati College of Education

Saraswati College of Education has established dedicated Equity & Inclusion Cells to ensure that all students, especially those from marginalized, minority, and underrepresented groups, receive equal opportunity, guidance, and support in both academic and personal growth. These cells work collaboratively to foster equity, diversity, inclusivity, and empowerment across the campus.

Policy Statement

The College is committed to creating a safe, accessible, and inclusive environment where every student can thrive. Policies of the Equity & Inclusion Cells are periodically reviewed to align with legal requirements, educational best practices, and institutional goals.

Objectives

Ensure fair representation and support for all students, regardless of caste, gender, ability, or community.

Provide awareness about scholarships, fellowships, and welfare schemes.

Prevent any form of discrimination, harassment, or exclusion on campus.

Promote a student-friendly, accessible, and inclusive environment.

Provide guidance, mentoring, and a structured grievance redressal platform.

Monitor impact and effectiveness of initiatives through documented reporting and stakeholder feedback.

Key Functions Across All Cells
  • Awareness Programs: Conduct seminars/workshops on rights, welfare schemes, inclusivity, gender sensitivity, and accessibility.
  • Counseling & Mentorship: Provide guidance for academic, financial, and personal concerns.
  • Support Services: Facilitate scholarships, fellowships, government schemes, and other benefits.
  • Accessibility Measures: Ensure physical accessibility (ramps, lifts, accessible toilets) and digital accessibility (assistive tools, accessible learning resources).
  • Monitoring & Reporting: Maintain detailed records of activities, beneficiaries, and outcomes; report periodically to the Principal and Governing Body.
  • Grievance Redressal: Work in coordination with the Grievance Redressal Committee and Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) to resolve student concerns effectively.
  • Training & Orientation: Conduct orientation sessions for new students and staff, and refresher workshops for existing members on inclusivity and rights.
  • Feedback Mechanism: Collect, analyze, and act upon student feedback to improve inclusivity and support initiatives.
